Nonprofit November 5: Groundwork Jacksonville

Updated: Jan 18

Today’s Non-Profit November Spotlight: Groundwork Jacksonville

Groundwork Jacksonville is transforming our city—one trail, park, and waterway at a time! As the city’s nonprofit partner, they aim to regenerate, improve, and manage the environment through community-based partnerships that promote environmental, economic, and social well-being. The Emerald Trail is the current shining star, set to be complete by 2030. It will make up 30 miles of trails, greenways, and parks that circle urban core neighborhoods desirable for living, working, and visiting and link them to creeks, the St. John’s River, schools, restaurants, businesses, and more.

Groundwork Jacksonville also has exciting programs such as Project One Health. This initiative brings the vision to local neighborhoods, aiming to reduce screen time and connect children to the benefits of nature. Through outdoor classroom areas, micro forests, new learning modules, and interactive activities - all along the Emerald Trail - Project One Health will use nature to improve mood, confidence, and emotional regulation.
